Moonlight to reach it with him, every fiber of his being crying
out in need, and in a flash of insight, finally understood why
this was dangerous... why it was forbidden to novices. It was
simply too powerful.
"Come for me," Tiger gasped.
A shiver ran through Moonlight's frame as Tiger lifted his
pelvis and began to thrust in short strokes. Moonlight's cock
was forced through Tiger's fist to a faster pace, and the extra
stimulation drove him over the edge. He came with a hoarse
cry, sinking down on Tiger's shaft as he began to spurt. Tiger

churned his hips, bouncing Moonlight's ass as Moonlight's
cum landed on his belly. The sight of Moonlight's face
beatified by bliss launched Tiger's release. Sheathing himself
to the hilt, Tiger clutched Moonlight's slim flanks as his seed
unfurled. Gasping for breath, hearts beating like thunder,
they held on to one another as the echoes of the orgasm
gradually faded.
Tiger ran his hands up and down Moonlight's back as
Moonlight relaxed completely against his chest. Gently, he
eased out of Moonlight's sheath, and Moonlight stretched his
legs out, twining them with Tiger's. Tiger turned his head to
kiss Moonlight and was snared again by his lover's profligate
beauty and the luminous soul in the fathomless depths of his
eyes.
"I love you so much," Tiger said, his voice breaking in the
middle.
"I know." Moonlight returned Tiger's kiss. "And there's
nothing in this world I love as much as you," he said. Let
Autumn hear where his true loyalties lay. He knew he was
being reckless, but while he was in Tiger's arms, he felt so
safe. Snuggling into the solid warmth, he fell asleep.
Tiger stayed awake for a while longer, cradling Moonlight
in his arms while he thought about how deep the bond
between them ran. It was a little disconcerting to realize how
much power his feelings had over him, but he wouldn't
change them if he could. Moonlight was his, and it was only
right that he love and protect him. Having made a temporary
peace with his fears, Tiger dropped off to sleep.

Ladder gestured to Tiger to come in to his office and sit.
"Instead of telling Rain so he can tell Mallet so Mallet can
tell you, I'm going to tell you myself." Tiger's top boss tapped
his breast pocket. "I had a call an hour ago from Talon."
Tiger nodded in respect. Tsume, called Talon by his
brethren, was Iron Tribe's chief enforcement agent.
"We're finally going to go full-scale in Russia," Ladder said.
"The field office currently in operation there is going to be
replaced by an elite team that will crack Moscow like a nut."
"Good."
"Yes, it is, and long overdue." Ladder smiled. "Talon wants
you on the team you and Rain."
Tiger stopped himself before he could ask about Mallet.
"Will I be going back to the island before Russia?"
"I don't know." Ladder looked a bit taken aback. "Do you
have any other questions about the assignment?"
"No, sir."
"Somehow I thought you'd be more excited about the
posting."
"I am excited, and proud to be chosen, sir."
"Well... then I suppose you can go back to what you were
doing."
"Thank you, sir." Tiger left the office.
Two days later, to Tiger's great relief, he returned to Saigo
Island in one of the Kagehito's sleek helicopters.

"Tiger!" Moonlight rushed to throw his arms around the
other young man, drawing him into an alcove that wasn't
bugged. "I know it's only been a few days, but I missed you
so much."
Tiger let himself be swept into a kiss that threatened to
melt his bones. "Wait," he said when Moonlight let him have
some air.
"You must be joking. I'm oiled up and ready to go."
"Shit." Tiger embraced Moonlight fiercely.
"What?" Moonlight pulled back to look into Tiger's eyes.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm going to Moscow."
"For how long?"
"A long time."
Moonlight closed his eyes a long moment before opening
them again. "You're part of the elite squad."
Tiger nodded.
"I'm so stupid. Why did I believe him?"
"Who?"
"The wizard, of course." Moonlight grimaced. "I knew
about the team that's going in to take Moscow, but the
onmyoji let me believe that you'd be kept on the Tokyo
team."
"I can't figure him out. Sometimes he treats you like his
favorite, and sometimes he's so cruel to you that I can't help
thinking he hates you."
"I don't think he knows either." Moonlight chewed his
lower lip. "He can't decide what to do with me. Sometimes it's
like he's grooming me to take over his duties; other times he

orders me around like his house servants. He'll send me back
to the Roses for a mission and then keep me here for weeks,
ignoring any messages asking for me. And of course, no one
calls him on it. Everyone's completely terrified of him."
"Does he put spells on them?"
"I wouldn't rule it out. I think most of them are worried
about how much he knows about them. He has a lot of spies
among the clans." Moonlight didn't elaborate on the onmyoji's
spy network or the sort of missions he did for the Barazoku.
He didn't talk about how sick he felt when other men touched
him or that sometimes his rage was so great that he was
afraid he'd choke on it. He didn't mention any of these things
or a thousand others that were destroying his hopes and his
sanity. Instead, he stuck his head out of the niche and looked
up and down the barracks hall. "Run with me," he said when
he turned back to Tiger.
"What?"
"The helicopter's still here right?"
"Yeah... probably."
"You can overpower the pilot, can't you?"
"The whole crew, if I need to."
"And you can fly it."
Tiger nodded.
"Then let's just go."
"That's crazy."
"Then be crazy with me. Come on. Don't let this chance
slip away."
"We can't." Tiger went over the route in his head anyway.
"Too many troops between here and there."

"They won't question you, and if they do, you just say you
left something on the helicopter."
"What about you?"
"I'll get there my own way." Moonlight grabbed the front of
Tiger's shirt. "We can do this."
"No, we can't. The best we could hope for is to be blown
out of the sky."
"We could fly low, head for the coast, and bail out with
parachutes. They'll go after the wreckage, and we'll "
"Stop!" Tiger wrapped his hands around Moonlight's upper
arms. "You're scaring me."
Moonlight froze, staring into Tiger's eyes. "I'm scaring
you?" He broke Tiger's hold and pulled away. "It doesn't scare
you that you're being ordered to leave and you don't even
question it? Do you question anything?"
"You sound angry."
"I am."
"I know, but it's been a long time since you raised your
voice."
"Don't change the subject. Will you go with me or not?"
Tiger shook his head. "They'll kill us if we run. I can't stand
the thought of anything bad happening to you."
"Bad things happen to me every day."
"Moonlight, please." Tiger's voice held a note of
desperation. "You know how large and powerful the Shadow
is. We can't fight it."
"You won't even try!"
"Because I know it's pointless. I've seen what they can "

"You think I haven't seen things too?" Moonlight cut him
off. "Or am I just a little dimmer than you?"
"Of course not, but I don't think you understand "
"I understand that you're too scared to do what you know
is right."
"And you should be too."
"The Kagehito told us we were slaves and you believed
them. You gave up a long time ago."
"I'm not moon-brained enough to believe we can fight
them."
